Antirrhinum orontium (lesser snapdragon)

Antirrhinum orontium (Plantaginaceae) - lesser snapdragon; native to Europe - fruit (foraminicidal capsule) and seeds; the apical pores through which seeds leave the capsule are formed by irregular ruptures of the pericarp. Dispersal is achieved as the capsule sways in the wind or is moved by passing animals, thus shaking out the seeds. The stiff, spike-like remnant of the style may assist with the latter; fruit 7mm long; seeds 1.1mm long
